Edward Christopher Sheeran, also known as Ed Sheeran to the world of mainstream music, boldly set out to the bright lights of London to pursue his music career in 2008. Sheeran started his career like most struggling musicians playing for small venues and street parties. However, in the year 2011, Sheeran finally caught his big break. At a particular street party in London, renowned music artists Jamie Foxx and Elton John just so happened to be there to witness his spectacular performance.

It wasn t long before John and Foxx picked him up and signed him to Asylum Records. Finally later in the year 2011, he debut with his first mainstream album that caught the eyes of the United Kingdom like no one had imagined. His hit single, The A-Team, became quintuple platinum in the United Kingdom and soon made its way to the United States as well.

Winning all kinds of awards, Ed Sheeran was no doubt an international sensation. The year following his debut, he was nominated for and eventually won two major awards at the 2012 BRIT Awards. Winning the Best British Male Award and the Best Breakthrough Artist award all in the same year is no ordinary feat and has been done by only a few.

His rise to stardom continued internationally as he was featured on Taylor Swift s latest album dubbed Red , in the song Everything Has Changed. An outstanding recognition that most people don t know about is his role in writing a few songs for the new American boy band sensation s debut album. He wrote One Direction s popular hit song, Little things on top of Moments and Over Again.

With all the success in the world, Sheeran had a tough path that led him to where he is at today. Of course we only hear the good things and success of his remarkable story, but did you know that he actually started his career in 2005? Along with two EPs and two full albums, he was not a very popular musician mainly because he did not have the backing of a major record label. He did not have the right people pushing out his masterful work of art. In 2008 he also auditioned to a British version of Glee called the Britannia High, where he obviously did not get a role. Ed Sheeran also played hundreds of gigs throughout his career before hitting the jackpot with Asylum Records.

Even though he took so long to get to where he is right now, he did not give up. He was persistent and pursued something that he was greatly passionate about for many, many years without it really paying off. In the end, everything worked out and Ed Sheeran is world famous. Take a lesson from Ed and follow you dreams. Never give up and be determined to achieve what you want.
